Who is the author behind this blog?

I have been doing accounting and bookkeeping work for over 40 years. And have taught many others. I am not the stuffy accountant type you might be expecting. I speak plainly without all the jargon and pride myself on keeping a bookkeeping system simple and uncomplicated. I have worked for many different kinds of service companies. Every company needs some customization in the bookkeeping so that it fits what they do. I am here to help you with that.

I have been both an employee and a contractor and some of my jobs have been very long term. Let’s see, 14 yrs., 7 yrs., 18 yrs. and 10 yrs. at various companies. I earn the trust of my bosses and clients and I can be relied on to be truthful and honest with you.

These are the types of businesses I have done bookkeeping work for: electric company, land developer, water treatment, veterinarian, engineering, surveying, residential home leasing, air conditioning, generator service, human trafficking non-profit, commercial painting, Amazon delivery and soda blasting. I am also a notary public.

I am currently using Sage 50 and Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus bookkeeping software. I have used these 2 for years and am most familiar with them. There are many software programs but they will be similar to each other for the purpose of bookkeeping. It’s just that the interfaces will be different. I will do my best to help you bridge those differences to complete your bookkeeping.

I am not formally educated and have no degree in anything. I have taken courses to learn bookkeeping and bookkeeping software. But mostly, self-taught. I am not a CPA or an income tax professional. However, I have worked with several CPA’s and have the experience to know when you need to consult with one or if I can answer your questions. I cannot advise you as a CPA or a lawyer or a financial advisor. The information I will give you is only from my personal experience with bookkeeping and accounting. These are my own thoughts and opinions on the subject. If you rely on them, that is at your own discretion. If ever you have any doubt about anything I tell you, please do consult with a professional advisor about it.

I will be adding more blog posts in the future. I am also working on video tutorials to demonstrate the concepts and they will be added to this website, as well. I will add new resources as I discover them in the Resource category.
